<영어연설 전문>

Happy Birthday Dr. King.
I thought it was his birthday today. Let’s say a big birthday. “Happy Birthday Dr. King!”

Ladies and gentlemen, and the family and the friends of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it is a great honor for the Korean Children’s Choir and myself to be here, and I trust that you never know the influence of the Martin Luther King Jr. on all the preachers around the world. When they suffer freedom, when they suffer persecution, Dr. King is an inspiration, Dr. King was one of the models for all of us preacher to follow to fight the freedom for the individual. The scripture tells us, “if God so loved us, we shall love one another.”, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.” And that’s been Dr. King’s fight for all of his life. Freedom is not free, and somebody has to sacrifice, and Dr. King made the sacrifice so that everybody can have the freedom. “Free, Free at last free.” I am grateful for what Dr. King has done for us. Winston Churchill, one man convinced England that they could survive the Nazi war. Vince Lombardy, one man, turned Green Bay Packers from doormats to Legendary Champions. Lee Iacocca turned around Chrysler and saved the company. Florence Nightingale, one woman, the mother of modern nursing, transformed patient care by emphasizing hygiene and sanitation in hospital practice that carry over today.
In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell the control of England. In 1845, one vote brought Texas into Union. In 1886, one vote saved Andrew Johnson from impeachment. In 1875, one vote changed French Monarch to republic.

When Dr. King said in his speech, “I have a Dream,” his dream was to integrate schools, and that dream has been fulfilled. And, as a Baptist minster from Korea, I have a dream that the North Korean children will someday will sing together with the South Korean Children and praise God because that’s my dream. Dr. King inspired so many preachers when he said “I have a dream”
I have another dream that sometime in the near future, the North and South Korean people will be reunited for the Kingdom of God and for the people who’s been oppressed for so long so far.

I want to go on behalf of the Korean people and say thank you to the war veterans who came to rescue us from the North Korean regime. If you hadn’t come to South Korea, these children wouldn’t have had the chance to sing “God Bless America.”
May God continue to bless this great nation, and you have known many many people around the world the one person who have influenced more people than any other people in Billy Graham and Dr, King. I admire those two men because they inspire young preachers who’s coming up from seminary school to fight for freedom. Because freedom is not free. You’ve never heard a fellow named Sgt. Cornell Powers. A young soldier went to Korea back in 1950. He brought a house boy from Korea and gave him an education. That house boy had never attended a church. He’d never heard the Gospel, but he sent him to Bob Jones Academy in South Carolina. He got converted there, prepared for the ministry, went back to Korea, and told his people about Jesus and His saving grace. Billy Graham came in 1973 to hold the Crusade in Seoul. At the final meeting, he had 1.1 million people gather at Yeoido Plaza. He couldn’t give invitation because there were so many people at Yeoido Plaza. So he said “people who want to come to Christ, please stand up.”, and the counselors came around to get their name and address. That Sunday afternoon 38,000 people made the decision for Christ. Out of 1 million people, only 5% could understand Dr. Billy Graham’s message probably because there was a person next to him interpreting his message. That was the house boy. Sgt. Powells gave education and sent him to his country. to interpret for Dr. Billy Graham.  The Korean Mega church movement started because Billy Graham’s Crusade. And, if Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived long enough, we would love to have in Korea. to fight against Communism.
God Bless God Bless Martin Luther King Jr.
He’s in heaven looking over.
I hope his legacy lives on that that we fight for freedom of those who are suffering
God Bless !
